Summary

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Business Intelligence Developer to join our IT team. Working from either our Support office in Leicester, or remotely, we are flexible in location for the right candidate. Your role will be to develop, supply and validate data to allow business users to make informed decisions. This will include the sourcing and loading of the required data and providing the correct reporting solution to meet the individual needs of each project. In addition, they are responsible for the ongoing accuracy, support and maintenance of the services used to supply this data. You will also be helping to support and develop the BI team.

The Role

Key Accountabilities   

  • Develop and maintain the Data Warehouse (DW) using Extract Transform and Load (ETL) processes
  • Create Integration Services packages (SSIS) to load data from source to staging to live
  • Maintain the DW processes and monitor the schedules used to run them
  • Test and monitor the accuracy and performance of data loads
  • Creation of reporting solutions to meet user needs
  • Work with the management team and other internal customers to specify the requirement
  • Develop specification documentation of request to be signed off by end user
  • Work to a prioritised schedule to produce output
  • Develop and Test solution using the best tools identified during specification
  • Create documentation and handover for end users and IT Support function
  • Follow the department version control methods using Team Foundation Services (TFS)
  • Deploy solution once UAT and sign off completed
  • Enhance and redevelop reports to meet the changing needs of the business
  • Create and Monitor Jobs and Schedules
  • Automate or increase efficiency of existing reports to ensure timely and accurate delivery of data.
  • Troubleshoot and fix ad-hoc user reporting issues
  • Act as a point of expert escalation for troubleshooting and diagnosing and resolving reporting / data issues
  • Ensure proactive monitoring (alerts, events, dashboards and reports) is in place to prevent occurrence of incidents and identify improvements according to the needs of the business
  • Make recommendations for improvement using latest technologies
  • Ensure they communicate to and involve all relevant parties involved within a reporting project.
  • Take ownership of delivering the development and ensure that colleague training needs are considered
  • Provide ongoing support for reporting releases to IT service team and end users.
  • Ensure that all changes follow the internal change management processes
  • Find opportunities to improve repetitive processes through automation where appropriate

Technical                                                

  • SQL Server Management Studio
  • T-SQL to include
  • Data Definition Language (DDL) to include create, alter, drop of objects
  • Data Manipulation Language (MDL) to include select, insert, delete of data
  • Creation of Views, Stored Procedures, Functions and Triggers
  • Security setup
  • Maintain and update indexes, statistics, keys and constraints
  • Visual Studio / SQL Server Data Tools - BI
  • Integration Services Packages (SSIS)
  • Reporting Services reports (SSRS)
  • Analysis services Cubes (SSAS)
