Summary
We currently have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Junior Buyer to join our team focusing on our Essentials categories, which range from tile adhesives through to tiling tools. Reporting to, and supporting, the Buyer, you will manage, maintain and further develop your own specified area in line with business plans and initiatives. Commercially astute, through product knowledge, creativity and strong supplier relationships you will ensure the continued evolution of our market leading range.
The Role
• Developing new products for Topps owned brands and in partnership with key strategic suppliers
• Maintaining and growing existing supplier relationships and establishing new ones
• Own supplier negotiations on price, supply and Trading Agreements
• Delivering sales and margin on your targeted areas in line with company budget
• Analysis, reporting and identifying trends of weekly sales
• Understand and implement pricing strategies to grow market share
• Liaising with other departments within the organisation to ensure new product launches and projects are completed within required timescales and with maximum impact
• Maintaining up to date knowledge of the relevant Tile Adhesives, Accessories and Tiling tools market including key competitors, trends and attending trade fairs
The Person
• Proven experience in an Assistant Buyer/Junior Buyer role gained within a retail buying team
• Experience in own/owned brand development would be advantageous
• A proven ability to develop positive working relationships across the business and with suppliers at all levels
• The ability to work as a part of a team and on own initiative
• Able to work to deadlines though agile to change
• Strong attention to detail, numerate and analytical
• Microsoft Excel & Word skills to advanced level
• Understanding of the trade consumer and a practical knowledge of home improvement would be an advantage
• Ability to travel to European suppliers and potentially internationally
