National Accounts Manager

Purpose:

Working with both existing and new clients, manage and grow these relationships to build a profitable portfolio for the business. Responsible for developing account strategies, increasing sales, and ensuring exceptional service delivery across multiple regions. This role requires a strong commercial acumen, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic account plans to achieve sales targets and business objectives across new and existing accounts.
  • Manage relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within clients Businesses.
  • Monitor and analyse sales performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing actions to maximise revenue.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and promotional agreements in line with company policies and profitability targets.
  • Work closely with internal departments (marketing, supply chain, finance, customer service) to ensure seamless execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify new business opportunities within existing accounts and through networking and market intelligence.
  • Build a prospective pipeline of new accounts to acquire and onboard into the business.  
  • Analyse competitor offerings.
  • Identify products and ranges that are required by these account customers.

People/Leadership:

  • Strive to always deliver exceptional service levels.
  • Prepare and deliver regular account performance reports and forecasts to senior management.
  • Organised and structured in your approach.

Financial / Commercials

  • Increased year on year spend of ledger accounts.  
  • Periodic reporting development.
  • Striving to hit and surpass all KPI measures.

Risk and process

  • Access to sensitive data, including product pricing and client information.

Decision Making/Freedom to Act: 

  • National coverage of the UK working along side the BDM team to nurture new National Accounts.
  • Able to make operational decisions.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proven experience as a National Account Manager or similar senior sales role.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large, complex customer accounts and drive growth.
  • Commercial awareness with a good business acumen.
  • Confident decision maker and effective problem solver.
  • Flexible approach with the ability to take the initiative.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Organised & structured approach with an ability to prioritise customers’ needs in line with the business strategy.
  • Friendly and approachable with excellent communication, presentation skills and strong negotiation abilities.
  • Self-motivated and results oriented.
  • Strong project management and multitasking capabilities.
  • A team player with leadership potential.
  • Driving license.
